
But this could be a difficult question to answer, as only Windows will know the area(s) revealed by the main display and any second display that mayīe installed. However I have a better suggestion for those clever peopleīefore opening a window, the application might ask itself "is this window going to be on the screen?". A simple solution would be to offer a menu option "restore default window position" and this would be better than nothing. The user will think the application is being infuriating and stupid. I believe it would be possible to create the same problem by installing a second display, dragging a window to it, then removing that display. For example this happened recently to a Notepad window, so you cannot use Notepad with another window beside it (only in full (do not tell me this cannot happen!) the application can open a window that the user cannot see and cannot regain control of. The application may well save the position information, then open the window exactly where the user last left it.

Any Windows application can open a window that the user can reposition and probably resize.
